Small world so stick together
We live on a small planet. The willingness to grant basic rights to others is the only guarantee of a healthy future. Our nation of 60 million people is surrounded by people Celtic, Latin, Germanic, Slavic, North African and Basque. Three and a half million of our residents are immigrants, more than half coming from countries which are not part of the European Union. Even though most French who practice a religion are part of the Catholic Church, there are 4 million Muslims, 950 000 Protestants, 750 000 Jews, 400 000 Buddhists, 200 000 Orthodox Christians, 250 000 Jehovah's Witnesses, 30 000 Scientists and thousands of smaller religious groups. We are just a few hours by plane from Greece or Russia, where Catholics are a minority, or the former Yugoslavia, where the French are always busy maintaining peace.
